Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner was given admission in the Syamaprasad Institute of Education & Training for pursuing B-Ed with the method subject 'Life Science'. However, the petitioner lacked understanding in comprehending the true meaning of "method subject" at the initial stage. She thought that it meant the medium of instruction. Accordingly, she filled up 'Bengali' as the method subject. This inadvertent mistake has resulted in the University denying her registration with the method subject 'Life Science'. Incidentally, the petitioner had done B.Sc Honours and M.Sc in 'Zoology' and has secured more than 50 % in the aggregate. There is no earthly reason that she
would elect for 'Bengali' as a subject for the B.Ed. This is indeed and inadvertent error which should be allowed and corrected by the University. A representation was made in this regard on 13.07. 2024. But, the same has not been responded.
Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the respondent College authorities submits that admission to the student was given in the method subject 'Life Science'. It appears that an inadvertent error occurred while filling up the form and the method subject was erroneously mentioned as 'Bengali'.
Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the University denies the allegations and submits that the mistake is quite uncanny. The College was informed about it. Yet, the representation was made later.
It appears that the petitioner had done her B.Sc and M.Sc in 'Zoology'. There could hardly be a conceivable reason as to why she would, at all, opt for 'Bengali' as the method subject for her B.Ed. Thus, it appears to be an inadvertent error on the part of the petitioner while filling up the admission form. For this inadvertent error, the petitioner could not be made to lose valuable time.
Considering the balance of convenience and in the interest of justice, the University is directed to issue necessary registration documents for the Course of B. Ed that the petitioner is pursuing at the College at the earliest, positively before the 22.07.2024 because the examinations
are going to start from 23.07.2024. If an online registration document and/or admit card document cannot be issued, the University shall issue a manual registration document or any relevant documents required for participating in the examination.
With these observations, the writ petition is disposed of.
