The petitioners contested the Panchayat General Elections, 2023.

They raise several allegations with regard to illegalities committed on the day of poll as well on the day of counting.

The petitioners allege that the compilation sheet of the counting was not handed over to the petitioners despite repeated requests.

Objection was lodged before the Commission but the same is alleged to be kept pending.

The petitioners pray for recounting of the votes. It appears that the result of the election was declared on 11th July, 2023.

Any order passed for recounting of the vote at this stage may cause prejudice to the winning candidate.

In view of the above, the instant writ petition is disposed of granting liberty to the petitioners to approach the appropriate forum with an election petition for redressal of their grievances, if so advised. The Election Commission is, however, directed to forward the compilation sheet to the petitioners within a week from date.

Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties expeditiously on compliance of usual legal formalities.
