The petitioner is aggrieved by the inaction on the part of the respondents in disposing of the prayer of the petitioner for compassionate appointment. The petitioner's father, late Nakul Chandra Maity was a group-D employee in the office of the Maligram Gram Panchayat, DistrictPaschim Medinipur. The father of the petitioner died-inharness on September 25, 2020. The petitioner applied for appointment on compassionate grounds. The petitioner alleges that despite having made such application within time, i.e. on January 29, 2021, the authorities have failed and neglected to appoint the petitioner under the died-in-harness category.

Mr. Biswabrata Basu Mallick, learned Advocate appearing on behalf of the State-respondents, submits that with regard to the application for compassionate appointment, as per procedure, a three-man committee has been constituted to assess the eligibility of the petitioner to be appointed on compassionate grounds as per the scheme. Under such circumstances, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction upon the respondents to complete the enquiry and furnish a report to the petitioner. The said enquiry shall be completed within a period of three months from the date of communication of this order. This writ petition is, thus, disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.

All parties are to act on the basis of the server copy of this order.
