The petitioner is an Assistant Professor, Stage II at Uluberia College, Howrah.

It is the grievance of the petitioner that the college authorities have deliberately withheld the promotion of the petitioner from Assistant Professor, Stage II to Assistant Professor, Stage III.

On behalf of the college it is urged that the petitioner was asked by a letter dated August 24, 2018 issued by the Principal of the college for clarifying certain matters in relation to her promotion, but the petitioner did not bother to respond to such letter. This Court by an order dated July 14, 2023 directed the petitioner to give reply to the said letter by July 18, 2023.

Today, it has been submitted by the college that the college has received the reply of the petitioner and it will conclude the process for promotion of the petitioner from Assistant Professor Stage 2 to Assistant Professor Stage 3 within 15 days from date.

In that view of the matter, I do not see any justification to keep this matter pending.

Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of recording the stand taken by the college authorities. Accordingly, WPA 16977 of 2018 is disposed of. Let the copy of the resolution of the Governing Body dated July 28, 2023 be taken on records. Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
