The petitioner is presently on parole and has served 12 years in custody. The petitioner seeks early release under the provisions of West Bengal Correctional Services Act 1992.

Mr. Nilotpal Chatterjee who is present in Court today has been kind enough to appear in the matter and submits that Mr. Debashis Ghosh, learned counsel is also attached in the matter.

Since the only relief prayed for at this stage is for a direction on the respondent No. 2 to consider the representation made by the wife of the petitioner, WPA 17933 of 2022 is disposed of with the direction on the respondent Nos. 2 and 3 being the Additional Director General and Inspector General of Correction Services and the Superintendent of Dumdum Central Correctional Home respectively to consider and dispose of the representation made by the petitioner's wife

within a period of four weeks from today with reasons. The order should be communicated to the petitioner within a week from the date on which such order is passed.

The authorities shall also consider the provisions of the 1992 Act in passing the reasoned order. (Moushumi Bhattacharya, J.)
