Learned counsel for the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner is an advocate and an office bearer of the Diamond Harbour Criminal Court Bar Association. He is also an activist of a political party. Just before the panchayat elections, his house in Diamond Harbour was completely vandalised. He was constrained to lodge an FIR on July 6, 2023 before the concerned police station. Investigation is not being done and no accused is arrested so far. The petitioner apprehends fear to his own life and property and prays for police protection.

Learned counsel for the State relies on the report

and submits that after the FIR was lodged by the petitioner, investigation is going on.

After hearing the submissions, I direct the State to produce the case diary with regard to this on the returnable date.

List the writ petition for consideration on August 23, 2023 as an adjourned motion.

Till then, the police authorities shall keep sharp vigil at the locale and see that no breach of peace takes place.
