The petitioner contested the Panchayat General Elections, 2023 and lost by two votes.

Prayer for recounting was filed before the Panchayat Returning Officer on 13th July, 2023. According to the provisions of law, the prayer for recounting is required to be made on the day of counting.

There is nothing on record to show that prayer for recounting was made on the day of counting. In view of the above, no relief can be granted to the petitioner in the instant writ petition.

The writ petition fails and is hereby dismissed. Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties expeditiously on compliance of usual legal formalities.
