Heard the learned counsels for the parties.

It is submitted on behalf of the petitioners that their land was acquired by the respondent authorities and utilised for public purpose without making payment of compensation to the petitioners.

Learned counsel for the State submits that the Government is willing to purchase the land in question directly from the petitioners if the same is agreeable to the petitioners. The petitioners agree to such proposal of the Government.

Keeping in mind that the land in question was taken possession of some time in 1986 - 87 and the petitioners are agreeable for direct purchase of the land by the Government, the respondent authorities should initiate the process of direct purchase at the earliest and make all endeavour to conclude the same as expeditiously as possible, not later than four months from the date of communication of this order,

after affording reasonable opportunity of hearing to all the interested parties including the petitioners, in accordance with law.

With the aforesaid observations and directions, WPA 16856 of 2014 is disposed of. However, there shall be no order as to costs.

Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be furnished to the parties upon compliance of all necessary formalities.
