The affidavit-of-service filed on behalf of the petitioner is directed to be kept with the record. The petitioner submits that he is the holder of a Stage Carriage Permit for operating a bus on the Tarakeswar to Jhargram route. The said permit expired on August 21, 2024. On the same date, the petitioner submitted a representation before the Secretary, State Transport Authority, West Bengal, seeking renewal of the permit along with a prayer for replacement of the vehicle.

The petitioner alleges that his representation has not yet been considered by the authority. In view of the above, there is no justification to keep the writ petition pending. Accordingly, W.P.A. 17663 of 2025 is disposed of with a direction upon the Secretary, State Transport Authority, West Bengal (respondent no. 4 herein), to consider the petitioner's prayer for renewal of the permit and replacement of the vehicle in accordance with law, within a period of one month from the date of communication of this order.

The petitioner shall be afforded an opportunity of hearing before the authority passes a reasoned order.

W.P.A. 17663 of 2025 is disposed of accordingly.
