For the Petitioner Mr. Santanu Kumar Mitra, Mr. Amartya Pal ...For the State Respondents It is the grievance of the petitioner that her husband, who was appointed as a Chowkidar under Belisingha 2 No. Gram Panchayat, died in harness on December 6, 1992. Although her son was granted compassionate appointment upon the death of her husband, the petitioner has not been paid the family pension to which she claims entitlement. It is submitted before this Court that, despite representations made to the respondent authorities, no steps have been taken to release the family pension in favour of the petitioner.

In view of the aforesaid, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction upon the District Panchayat and Rural Development Officer, respondent no. 5, to consider the prayer of the petitioner. If it is found by the said respondent that

the petitioner is entitled to family pension, he shall forward all necessary documents to the competent authority for release of the family pension in accordance with law.

Let the aforesaid exercise be completed by the District Panchayat and Rural Development Officer, respondent no. 5, within a period of one month from the date of communication of this order.

Accordingly, WPA 18677 of 2024 stands disposed of.
