Heard learned counsel for the petitioner.
The private respondents have been trying to dispossess the petitioner from his residence forcibly and take possession thereof for which the petitioner approached this Court in a writ petition being AST no.890 of 2007. By an order passed on 3rd August, 2007, this Court directed the Officer in charge, Lake Police Station, Kolkata (at present Rabindrasarobar Police Station, Kolkata) to investigate the complaint lodged by the petitioner and take necessary steps in accordance with law.
Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that despite such direction, the petitioner has not been informed of any steps being taken by the police authority till date. The petitioner lodged a complaint before the police station on 2nd September, 2007 and also submitted a representation before the concerned authorities on 3rd July, 2024, both of which have not been heeded to.
In view of the above, the Officer in charge, Rabindrasarobar Police Station, being the 4th respondent herein, is directed to investigate the complaint and representation submitted by the petitioner in compliance with the earlier order of this Court and take necessary steps in accordance with law upon intimation to the petitioner.
In the meantime, the police authority shall keep strict vigil over the area so that no untoward incident takes place and there is no breach of peace and tranquility. With the aforesaid observation and direction, the writ petition is disposed of.
There shall however, be no order as to costs. Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
