Mrs. Sima Chakraborty Mrs. Suranjana De Sarkar ... for the Kolkata Municipal Corporation The petitioner alleges that his application for obtaining water connection at the premises No.124A, Bhubon Mohan Roy Road, Ward No.123, Borough-XVI of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation filed on 8th July, 2021 is yet to be considered and disposed of.
Learned advocate representing the Kolkata Municipal Corporation has received instruction from the Assistant Engineer(Civil) and Executive Engineer(Civil), Borough-XVI, Water Supply Department dated 23rd August, 2022 wherein it has been clearly mentioned that premises in question has been inspected and found that there is a single storied asbestos type residential building having no filter connection from the Corporation. Ashim Chakraborty the petitioner herein is residing in the said premises with his family. The premises in
question is recorded in the name of Smt. Ranu Chakraborty who happens to be the mother of the petitioner and expired in the year 2009.
The department has advised the petitioner to take new water connection by making application through the licensed Plumber of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. In terms of instruction received from the Kolkata Municipal Corporation the writ petition is disposed of by granting liberty to the petitioner to make application for obtaining water connection through the Licenced Plumber of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. The petitioner is required to annex a copy of the tax receipt and the death certificate of his mother Ranu Chakraborty along with the said application.
On receipt of the application made by the K.M.C Licenced Plumber, the Municipal Corporation shall take steps to provide water connection to the premises of the petitioner at the earliest but positively within a period of four weeks from the date of completion of all necessary formalities.
The writ petition stands disposed of.
Instruction given by the Assistant Engineer and Executive Engineer of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation be retained with the records.
Urgent photostat certified copy of this order be supplied to the parties, if applied for, as early as possible.
