The petitioners contested the Panchayat General Elections, 2023.

It has been submitted that there was massive rigging and violence at the time of the poll on July 8, 2023. The petitioners filed representation before the Election Commission on July 9, 2023 seeking re-poll. The same has not been considered.

It appears that the result of the Panchayat election was declared on July 11, 2023. At such a distant stage, the prayer for re-poll of the petitioners cannot be accepted.

The writ petition is, accordingly, dismissed. Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties expeditiously on compliance of usual legal formalities.
