The petitioner, in order to get admission in the MBBS course, had participated in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) 2025 under the General Category as Person with Benchmark Disability (PwBD). The All India Rank of the petitioner in the said Test is 279744 and his such rank under the PwBD category, is 2203.

The petitioner had appeared before the IPGME&R SSKM Hospital at Kolkata for assessment of his disability necessary to get admission in the MBBS course under the Category PwBD.

The said hospital has certified that the petitioner is not eligible for PWD reservation.

The petitioner was not satisfied with the said certificate, as such had approached Lady Hardinge Medical College & Associated Hospitals, New Delhi, one of the listed medical colleges authorized to assess such disability. The said college has issued a certificate certifying that the petitioner is eligible for PWD reservation.

The said two certificates are in contradiction to each other.

Mr. Nag, learned advocate for the WBMCC submits that there is no prescribed procedure to be followed by his client under the said circumstances, however, to avoid unnecessary complication, the registration of the petitioner has been done, giving credence to the latter one.

With the said development, the grievance of the petitioner has been addressed, there will be no impediment now for the petitioner to participate in the counseling. In view of such, no further order(s) need be passed in the matter, WPA 18048 of 2025 is thus disposed of without any order as to costs.
