Mr. Soumya Dasgupta, Ms. Tanuta Guray ... for the petitioners Ms. Srimayee Mitra, Mr. Kapil Guha ... for the respondent Bank After hearing learned counsel appearing for the petitioners and the respondent Bank, it appears that the deceased father of the petitioner no. 1/deceased husband of the petitioner no. 2 had two accounts in relation to which the requisite certificates of heirship are not available with the Bank.

The case of the petitioners is that once succession the certificate is produced, the petitioners are not under any obligation to produce any other documents for access to the accounts of the deceased father of the petitioner no. 1 and deceased husband of the petitioner no. 2.

This Court is of the view that the stand taken by the respondent Bank is reasonable. The Bank would

require satisfactory documents to allow the petitioners to give access over the two accounts.

WPA 18623 of 2022 is disposed of with liberty to the petitioners to approach the respondent Bank within a week to sort out the dispute with regard to the additional documents required by the respondent Bank. The respondent Bank is directed to process the request of the petitioners within three weeks from the date on which the petitioners meet with the officials of the Bank and on the Bank being satisfied with the documents produced by the petitioners.
