Heard the learned Counsels appearing on behalf of the parties.

Having considered the materials on record prima facie disclosing involvement of the petitioners in the alleged possession of 10 ltrs. of codeine mixture, which is above commercial quantity and in the light of the statutory restrictions under Section 37 of the N. D. P. S. Act, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.

Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected.

However, keeping in mind the protracted period of detention suffered by the petitioner , we direct the trial court to conclude the trial at an early date without granting unnecessary adjournments to either of the parties. (Bivas Pattanayak,J.) (Joymalya Bagchi, J.)
