The petitioner is a septuagenarian lady suffering from dementia. She is not in a position to operate here bank account with Punjab National Bank.

She requires assistance from the bank. She has mentioned that her nephew is her primary caregiver. Prayer has been made to direct the bank to take steps so that she is in a position to operate her bank account.

Learned counsel for the bank submits, upon instructions, that the petitioner has included the name of her sister as her nominee. There is no mention about her nephew in any of the records of the petitioner maintained by the bank. The bank, however, submits that an agent of the bank may visit the petitioner to provide service to her. 3.

As the petitioner is physically and mentally unable to operate her bank account, the branch manager of Punjab National Bank, Panskura Branch is directed to take steps in the matter in accordance with law to ensure that the petitioner is in a

position to utilize her money lying in her account. Formalities required to be complied with by the petitioner shall be made known forthwith.

If the bank can engage an agent to take care of the banking needs of the petitioner, then steps shall be taken accordingly.

The writ petition stands disposed of.

Instruction forwarded by the Deputy Manager of the bank vide e-mail communication dated August 12, 2025 be taken on record.

All parties are to act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.

Certified copy of this order, if applied for, shall be made available to the parties.
