The grievance of the petitioner is that the petitioner has challenged a billing dispute before the concerned Grievance Redressal Officer (GRO). However, the same has not been decided as yet. The petitioner apprehends that prior to the matter being decided by the GRO, the electricity supply of the petitioner may be disconnected.

Learned counsel for the CESC Limited submits that the CESC Limited shall not disconnect the electricity supply of the petitioner on the ground of non-payment of the disputed bill till the matter is decided by the GRO.

In view of such fair stand taken by the CESC Limited, WPA No. 18303 of 2023 is

disposed of by directing the Grievance Redressal Officer concerned, that is, the respondent no. 3 to decide the dispute raised by the petitioner in accordance with law, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within four weeks from date. The CESC Limited shall not disconnect the electricity supply of the petitioner, in terms of the submission made in Court which has been recorded above, till then.

There will be no order as to costs.

Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
