The petitioner is in custody for more than seven years and prays for bail primarily on the ground of delay in progress in trial. Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer and submits that on most of the occasions, the said delay has been caused at the instance of the petitioner and the co-accused. On merits, the petitioner is similarly circumstanced with the co-accused whose bail prayers were rejected by this Court earlier. This Court is informed that the prosecution proposes to examine 16 more witnesses and shall conclude witness action within 7/8 months from the next date fixed for evidence before the learned trial Court.

Considering the material on record, prayer for bail is rejected at this stage.

The learned trial Court is directed to expedite the trial without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties. The application for bail is disposed of.
