Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the Inspector-in-Charge, Basanti Police Station, South 24-Parganas threatened the petitioner not to visit his own home and village at Anandabad under Basanti Police Station and prays for a direction upon the respondent no.3, being the Sub Divisional Police Officer, Canning, Canning Town, South 24-Parganas for providing protection so that the petitioner can live peacefully at his own home and village.

Learned counsel appearing for the State submits that it is duty of the State to give protection to its citizens.

Heard learned counsels for the parties.

Sub Divisional Police Officer, Canning, Canning Town, South 24-Parganas, respondent no.3 herein, is requested to assist the petitioner to enter his own home

at Village and Post Office-Anandabad, Police Station - Basanti, South 24-Parganas. Respondent no.3 is also requested to keep a sharp vigil at the locale and ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioner or his family members.

With the above directions, the writ petition being WPA 19035 of 2024 is disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.
