Ms. Punam Basu. ...for the Petitioner. Mr. Binay Panda, Mr. Puspita Saha. ...for the State. Heard the learned Advocates appearing for the parties. Petitioner is in custody for 268 days. He prays for bail. Learned Advocate for the State opposes the prayer for bail.

We have considered the materials on record. Statement of the minor victim implicates the petitioner in the offence of penetrative sexual assault. Date has been fixed for recording prosecution evidence.

In view of the aforesaid circumstances, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage. Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected.

Trial court is directed to expedite the trial and conclude the same at an early date without granting unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties.
