Mr. Dipankar Pramanik .....for the State Although this is an application for quashing of the impugned proceeding in which charge-sheet was submitted under Sections 467, 471 and 420 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code, learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the petitioners would not like to press for quashing of the proceeding and instead, prays for an expeditious disposal of the same. Let a copy of this application be served upon Mr. Debabrata Chatterjee and Mr. Dipankar Pramanik, learned counsels, who are present in Court today and who ordinarily appear on behalf of the State. Their engagement may be regularised in due course by the competent authority of the State.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits as follows. The First Information was lodged in this case on 04.04.2017. Thereafter, the charge-sheet was submitted on 20.11.2018. Charges were framed. Inspite of this, till date only one witness could be examined. He submits

that proceeding has remained pending for no fault of the present petitioners.

Learned counsel for the State submits that the State would not come in the way if a direction is passed to expedite the trial.

I have heard submissions of the learned counsels appearing on behalf of the petitioners and the State and have perused the revision petition.

Although the FIR was lodged in April 2017 and the charges could be framed soon thereafter in 2018, it appears that the delay occurred from the date of framing of charge onwards.

In view of the above and in the interest of justice, I request the learned trial court to conclude the proceeding as expeditiously as possible without granting any unnecessary adjournment to any of the parties. With these observations, the revisional application is disposed of Urgent photostat certified copy of this order may be supplied to the parties expeditiously, if applied for. (Jay Sengupta, J.)
