The petitioner seeks compassionate appointment. His father died-in-harness on 10th June, 2023 and he applied for appointment on 20th January, 2025.

The instant writ petition was filed alleging inaction on the part of the respondent authorities to process his application seeking compassionate appointment.

Learned advocate representing the petitioner submits that during pendency of the instant writ petition, the Secretary, Purba Medinipur District Primary School Council and the District Inspector of Schools (Primary Education), Purba Medinipur forwarded the application of the petitioner to the District Inspector of Schools (Secondary Education),

Purba Medinipur for appointment in Group-C post in any secondary or higher secondary school.

The District Inspector of Schools (Secondary Education), Purba Medinipur thereafter forwarded the file of the petitioner to the Secretary, West Bengal Regional School Service Commission, Western Region, Bankura in August 2025.

The name of the petitioner has been registered in the live register and file is currently pending with the West Bengal Regional School Service Commission, Western Region, Bankura.

The very purpose of providing compassionate appointment is for tiding over the immediate financial crisis faced by the family on the death of the breadwinner.

In the instant case, the application of the petitioner was forwarded to the Commission in August 2025. No further step has been taken by the Commission till date.

Keeping in mind the urgent requirement of disposing of the application seeking compassionate appointment, the instant writ petition stands disposed of by directing the West Bengal Regional School Service Commission, Western Region, Bankura to take further necessary steps apropos the petitioner's prayer seeking compassionate appointment in accordance with law at the earliest.

Leave is granted to the learned advocate-onrecord of the petitioner to implead the West Bengal Regional School Service Commission, Western Region, Bankura and its Secretary as party respondents in the instant writ petition in course of tomorrow.

Let a copy of the writ petition be served upon the added respondents at the time of communicating the order of the Court for immediate compliance.

12.

All parties shall act on the basis of a server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.

13.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance of all requisite formalities.
