Petitioners approached this Court being aggrieved by the inaction of the police authorities as no steps were taken in spite of information being furnished on or about February 2024 against the private respondents for causing criminal trespass, public nuisance, unlawful assembly and also extortion.

As none appears on behalf of the State, Mr. Samrat Paul, learned advocate, who ordinarily appears for the State, is directed to represent the State. His appointment may be regularised by the concerned authorities.

Having regard to the fact that more than 17 months have passed since such information was furnished, I am of the view that the petitioner would approach the jurisdictional court under the relevant provisions of law. Jurisdictional Magistrate would assess and ascertain regarding the genuinity of the allegations and thereafter pass necessary directions as he deems fit and proper.

With the aforesaid observations, the writ petition being WPA 19290 of 2024 is disposed of.

Pending connected application, if any, is consequently disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.

All concerned parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
