Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioners submits as follows. The private respondents had been harassing and torturing the petitioner for quite some time. There were several incidents of assault and outraging of modesty. The police initially did not take steps. It was only after a mass petition was submitted by the villagers that an FIR was registered at the behest of the petitioners. The police did not arrest any accused.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State relies on the report and submits as follows. Cases were initiated from both the sides. The respective accused surrendered and obtained bail. The police are keeping a vigil in the locality.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the respondent nos.5,8,9 and 10 submits as follows. The allegations made in the writ petition are denied. It were the private respondents who were actually at the receiving end of all the trouble. It appears that cases had already been started at the behest of the petitioners as also respondent no.8. Charge sheets have already been submitted in this regard. If any untoward incident takes place, either of the parties shall be at liberty to inform the police. This shall be acted upon by the police in accordance with law.

The respondent authorities shall maintain peace and ensure that no breach of peace takes place.

Since affidavits were not called for, the allegations contained in the writ petition are deemed not to have been admitted.

With these observations, the writ petition is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order may be supplied to the parties expeditiously, if applied for. (Jay Sengupta, J.)
