From the order dated 2nd August, 2023 passed by the Chairman of the Diamond Harbour Municipality it is evident that the Board of Councilors were convinced regarding construction of a drainage system to clear up the water logging in the area. It has been mentioned that the construction of the drain may be done after receiving the necessary fund and the level of the road may be lifted at the same time. The Municipality thought that the matter is not so urgent that the construction of the drain and the road is required to be done immediately.

The assessment of urgency made by the Chairman of the Municipality does not appear to be a proper one. As the Board of Councilors have already opined for construction of a drainage system for clearing the water logging in the area, then steps should be taken on urgent basis for construction of the same, otherwise similar problem of water logging will occur during the ensuing monsoon season.

The Municipality is directed to arrange for funds so that the drain and the road are constructed on urgent basis

and to ensure that there is no water logging in the area. If the work is not done on emergency basis, then incidents of dengue and malaria cannot be ruled out. For maintaining proper health and hygiene of the members of the locality, urgent steps are required to be taken by the Municipality in this regard.
