The present writ petition has been filed challenging the communication of the Registrar (Acting), Visva-Bharati, Shantiniketan, dated 22nd September, 2022, addressed to the petitioner, informing him that the Selection Committee could not recommend him for promotion from the post of Assistant Professor (Stage III) to the post of Associate Professor (Stage IV) under the Career Advancement Scheme of the University Grants Commission (hereinafter "UGC").

Mr. Dasgupta, learned Advocate appearing for the University, submits that the regular Vice Chancellor has joined the University, and it has been decided that the petitioner's prayer for promotion shall be reconsidered.

In view of the stand taken by the University, the impugned communication dated 22nd September, 2022 is set aside, and the concerned authority of the University is directed to reconsider the petitioner's prayer for promotion to the post of Associate Professor (Stage IV) in accordance with law, preferably within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

With this observation, the writ petition is disposed of, however, without any order as to costs.
