Mr. Subhendu Bandyopadhyay, Mr. Arindam Mitra ...for the Petitioner Mr. Debanjan Mukherji ...for WBSEDCL Ms. Sipra Mazumder, Ms. Prativa Ghatak ...for the State Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the West 09-09-2025 AKG Ct. 15 Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) submits that, pursuant to an application filed by the petitioner for effecting electricity connection, an inspection was conducted on November 5, 2024. It is further submitted that the petitioner has duly paid the amount as quoted by WBSEDCL.

Subsequently, five electricity poles have been erected and an 11KV overhead conductor has also been installed. However, it is submitted that the line could not be energised due to obstruction caused by certain local individuals, including respondent nos. 5 to 8. Respondent nos. 5 to 8 are not represented, despite service. Let the affidavit of service filed by the petitioner be taken on record.

In view of the above, this Court finds no justification to keep the present writ petition pending.

Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction upon WBSEDCL to effect the electricity connection in favour of the petitioner within a period of four weeks from the date of this order, with the assistance of the local police station, if necessary.

The petitioner shall comply with all requisite formalities and shall bear the costs, if any, associated with availing police assistance.

WPA 18979 of 2025 is accordingly disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
