The petitioner has filed the instant revision praying for a direction upon the Trial Court for expeditious disposal of G.R. Case No.1770 of 2015 under Section 498A of the IPC read with Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act.

It is found from the record that the Newtown Police Station Case No. 226 of 2015 was registered on 17th May, 2015. After a lapse of about six years, on 3rd February, 2021 the Trial Court framed charge against the accused. There are 8 witnesses in the charge-sheet. However, till date not a single witness has been examined.

Mr. Arijit Ganguly, learned Public Prosecutor-in-Charge also concedes that a specific direction should be issued, so that the Trial

Court will take appropriate steps for expeditious disposal of the above mentioned case.

Therefore, the learned Judicial Magistrate, 1st Court, Barasat, North 24 Parganas is directed to dispose of the G.R. Case No.1770 of 2015 within eight months from the date of communication of this order. He is also directed to take proactive step for production of the witnesses on the dates fixed.

The instant revision is disposed of.
