Affidavit-of-service filed on behalf of the petitioner is taken on record.

Learned advocate representing the petitioner submits that petitioner is working as Assistant Teacher in Ramnagar Rao High School (H.S.), Purba Medinipur (hereinafter referred to as 'said school') and he has completed 20 years service in the month of May, 2025 and has prayed for sanction of 18 years and 20 years service benefits in terms of relevant norms. A representation has been made by the petitioner on 21st July, 2025 which is addressed to concerned respondent authorities including Commissioner of School Education, West Bengal being respondent no.2 seeking sanction of aforesaid service benefits.

State respondents and said school authorities are represented by learned advocates who have jointly opposed the prayer of the petitioner since it is submitted that vide memo dated 24th July, 2025 issued by the Deputy Secretary (Administration), West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, District Inspector of Schools (S.E.), Purba Medinipur has been requested to conduct preliminary enquiry and to submit report. 4.

It is also submitted on behalf of the said school authority that service of the petitioner is not satisfactory as a result whereof issue was referred to concerned authority of the Board for initiation of disciplinary proceedings. According to the respondents, at this stage, petitioner may not be sanctioned service benefits as prayed for.

Considering the respective submissions made on behalf of the parities, this Court finds it apt to direct respondent no.2 to decide the representation of the petitioner dated 21st July, 2025 by eight (8) weeks from the date of communication of this order after granting opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and the said school authority or their representatives. Respondent no.2 shall pass a reasoned decision on the claim of the petitioner and same shall be communicated to the parties by fortnight thereafter.

With the above directions writ petition stands disposed of.
