It appears that the petitioner works as a Scientist at West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Science, Kolkata. In this writ petition, the petitioner has made out a case that though he is entitled to get nonpracticing allowance by the State, the same is being illegally denied to him.

The supplementary affidavit filed by the petitioner discloses that the Registrar of the University by a letter dated August 24, 2022, requested the Additional Secretary to the Government of West Bengal, Animal Resources Development Department for consideration of granting non-practicing allowance to the petitioner along with some other eligible candidates.

In that view of the matter, no useful purpose will be served in keeping this writ petition pending. This writ

petition being WPA 17785 of 2015 is disposed of giving a direction upon the Additional Secretary to the Government of West Bengal, Animal Resources Development Department, Prani Sampad Bhavan, LB-2, Sector-III, Salt Lake City, Kolkata - 700 106 to consider the letter dated August 24, 2022 in accordance with law and pass a reasoned order within a period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order. The said authority will hear the Registrar of the University before passing the order.

WPA 17785 of 2015 is disposed of.
