The petitioner is in custody for more than a year and prays for bail. He is the husband of the victim.

Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer. I have considered the material on record.

The petitioner was last seen together with the victim prior to the alleged incident. EPIC card and PAN card of the petitioner were recovered from the place of occurrence. The fire arm used in the alleged offence has been recovered at the instance of the petitioner. The empty cartridge found at the place of occurrence has matched with the fire arm. Sufficient incriminating material has been found against the petitioner. This Court is informed that 21 out of 36 witnesses have been examined. Offence, if proved, shall attract mandatory life imprisonment.

Considering the gravity of the offence and prima facie involvement of the petitioner therein, prayer for bail is rejected at this stage.

The application for bail is disposed of.
