The learned advocate for the petitioner is anxious regarding the long detention of the petitioner and the trial not progressing.

Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the petitioner was arrested on 21st November, 2019. Charge-sheet was submitted on 15th May, 2020 and supplementary charge-sheet was submitted on 7th December, 2020. According to the learned advocate, charge has already been framed and the next date is fixed on 23rd December, 2021.

Mr. Md. Anwar Hossain, learned advocate, appears on behalf of the State. His appointment may be regularised by the concerned authorities.

In view of the petitioner being in custody for more than

24 months, I direct the learned trial court to expedite the progress of the trial and fix schedule consisting of three dates and date/schedule must be fixed once in every 45 days. No unnecessary adjournment should be granted to either of the parties and schedule/date would be fixed only after the public prosecutor conducting the case assures the court regarding the availability of the witnesses. Needless to state that the court should keep in mind that the petitioner is in custody for about 24 months. With the aforesaid observations, CRR 2527 of 2021 is disposed of.
