Order dictated by Arijit Banerjee, J.:

The petitioner says that he has been falsely implicated. He has been in custody for four year and one month. He prays for bail.

We have seen the material in the case diary. We have also seen the deposition of the victim girl, who was four years old at the time of the alleged incident as also of the defacto complainant being the victim girl's father. We have seen the medical report. 3.

There appears to be prima facie incriminating material against the petitioner. The charge is under Section 6 of the POCSO Act. If convicted, the petitioner shall have to undergo imprisonment of minimum 20 years.

In view of the aforesaid, we are not inclined to enlarge the petitioner on bail, at this stage.

CRM (DB) 2591 of 2024 is, thus, dismissed.

However, one cannot be oblivious of a citizen's right to personal liberty and speedy trial. Keeping in mind the long

detention of the petitioner, we direct the learned Trial Court to expedite the trial to the fullest extent possible and conclude the same at an early date and definitely by the end of January, 2025. No unnecessary adjournments will be granted to either of the parties.

Parties shall cooperate with the learned Trial Court fully so that the trial may be concluded within the time period indicated herein.

Parties and the learned Registrar General of this Court shall immediately communicate this order to the learned Trial Court.
