The petitioner is in custody for about nine months and prays for bail.

Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer. I have considered the material on record.

The petitioner was last seen together with the victim prior to his death. The offending stone with which the victim appears to have been assaulted was recovered at the instance of the petitioner. The same has been sent for forensic examination. With regard to trial of the case, four out of twenty-one witnesses have been examined.

Offence, if proved, shall attract mandatory life imprisonment.

Considering the material on record and prima facie involvement of the petitioner therein, prayer for bail is rejected at this stage.

The application for bail is disposed of.
