Learned counsel for the petitioner argues that, despite having applied for a new electric connection, the CESC Limited has not yet acted on such application of the petitioner.

Learned counsel appearing for the CESC Limited submits that there is already an existing service connection to the premises-in-question and, as such, the petitioner is not entitled to take another service connection.

However, it is submitted on behalf of the CESC Limited that, in the event the petitioner confines the request to a regular electric connection, the CESC

Limited can give such connection subject to compliance of all formalities at the existing meter board position. Accordingly, W.P.A. No. 20410 of 2021 is disposed of by directing the CESC Limited to give a new connection to the petitioner at the existing meter board position in the premises-in-question.

The CESC personnel will be at liberty to approach the respondent no. 5, that is, the Officer-inCharge, Karaya Police Station, in the event any unauthorized or unlawful hindrance is created to such connection being given by any persons.

In the event any obstruction is raised, the respondent no. 5 shall act on the server copy of this order and grant adequate police help to the CESC personnel to give such new connection to the petitioner, subject to compliance of all formalities at the existing meter board position.

Such police help, if required, shall be given at the cost of the petitioner.

There will be no order as to costs.

Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance of all necessary formalities.
