Ghosh ... ... for the State In this public interest petition one of the residents of village Amta Banglopara has made a prayer to direct the official respondents to take immediate action to stop the illegal activity.

A perusal of the petition reveals that the petitioner is aggrieved with the performance of Sarbojonin Sri Sri Ganesh Puja by the Asram near the residence of common residents of the village.

On the specific query put by this Court as to what is the illegality against which the petitioner is seeking direction, learned counsel for the petitioner has not disputed that performance of puja is not an illegality but his only submission is that the communal harmony should be maintained.

It is the responsibility of the official respondents to maintain communal harmony in the area concerned. On perusal of the record we do not find any material indicating that there is any lapse or negligence on the part of the authorities in this regard.

It is always expected that the authorities will perform their duties with full sincerity. Hence, we find no reason to interfere in this present public interest petition which is accordingly dismissed.
