The petitioner is contesting from Ward No. 63 under Bhowanipur Constituency in the ensuing elections to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. It is submitted that in respect of one polling station at Jewish Grils' School under the said Ward in the last Assembly Election, widespread irregularities have been noticed by the then candidate, who is representing the petitioner here. It is further submitted that there are two gates each, for entry and exist on the Park Street and Royd Street side of the said polling booth.

Mr. Banerji submits that on 15th December, 2021 a communication has been made in this regard to the Officer-in-charge, Park Street Police Station.

The apprehension being specific, against a particular polling booth, the State Election Commission shall immediately look into the same and seriously consider the request for closing the gate on the Royd Street side as prayed for by the petitioner. The Election Commission shall also, if necessary, review the voters' list and doubly ensure that fake voters and impersonators are not permitted in general and in the said booth in particular. It is expected that adequate force shall be deployed by the Commissioner of Police at Kolkata to assist the State Election Commissioner, in carrying out the aforesaid order.

With the aforesaid observations, the instant writ petition shall stand disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.
