Ms. Zareen Naseem Khan Mr. Amanul Islam ... For the State Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for 21⁄2 years and there has not been much progress in trial of the case since 23rd April, 2025 when bail prayer of the co-accused was turned down by this Court. The petitioner prays for bail.
Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer. Bail prayer of the petitioner was turned down by this Court on 30th April, 2024 considering the material on record. On merits, the petitioner does not deserve a favourable order at this stage.
This Court is informed that 27 witnesses have been examined and three more witnesses are left to be examined. The petitioner is in custody for about 2 years. Offence, if proved, shall attract mandatory life imprisonment.
Considering the material on record, prayer for bail is rejected at this stage.
Learned trial Court is directed to expedite the trial and take the same to its logical conclusion without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties. The application for bail is disposed of.
Case diary be returned.
Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
