For the Kolkata Port Trust The petitioners complain of dumping of garbage in the plot No. R.S. 1260, Mouza - Balagarh. A report affirmed on 8th March, 2021 by one Sri Gouri Kanta Mukherjee, the Chairperson, the Board of Administrators of the Hooghly-Chinsurah Municipality has specifically mentioned that taking advantage of the short height of the guard wall existing at the behest of the writ petitioners to cover the area of the land, members of the locality are throwing garbage and it is impossible for the Municipality to keep vigil over the site on regular basis.
The Municipality has sought direction upon the petitioners to extend the height of the guard wall to prevent dumping of garbage.
Today the learned advocate appearing on behalf of the Municipality submits that the petitioners may be directed to raise the wall in the premises being R.S. No. 1260.
It has been submitted by the petitioners that they will take necessary steps for raising the guard wall in the aforementioned plot.
The Municipality shall ensure that the garbage which is accumulated in the said plot be cleared on regular basis and shall ensure that no further garbage is dumped in the said plot.
The writ petition stands disposed of.
