The writ petitioner is a widow and nominee of an ex-employee of the Calcutta Tramway Company. The said company is now known by the name of West Bengal Transport Corporation Limited.

The writ petitioner prays for payment of interest on arrears for delayed payment of General Provident Fund. The writ petitioner claims under ROPA 1998. The grievance of the petitioner is that the representation of the writ petitioner dated July 18, 2022 has not been considered by the respondent no.2.

Mr. Niladri Bhattacharya, learned counsel appears on behalf of the respondent nos. 2 and 3 and submits that the said representation of the writ petitioner shall be considered.

Let the representation of the writ petitioner be considered within four weeks from date in the light of the decisions of this Hon'ble Court regarding payment of interest on arrears in cases where ROPA is applicable.

With the aforesaid directions, the writ petition being WPA 19762 of 2022 is disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.

All parties shall act on the server copies of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Hon'ble Court.
