This is an application for police protection for an area of 100 meters radius to the elected Panchayat offices where Board formation is to take to place tomorrow. Learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner is the personal responsible in the particular political party to assign symbols to the candidates on the basis of which they contested the elections and on tomorrow meeting for Board formation is to take place at Kalyanpur-II and Kharjuna Gram Panchayat under the Berhampore Police Station in Murshidabad. In view of the attempts made by the miscreants belonging to the rival political party, it is apprehended that all efforts will be made to prevent the winning candidates of the petitioner's political party from participating in the meetings. Although police protection was sought, the same has not been granted yet. Learned Counsel for the State submits as follows. The allegations made in the writ petition are denied. Already there are sufficient police arrangements made at the

concerned places to ensure that no breach of peace takes place.

I have heard learned counsel for the parties and have perused the writ petition.

It appears that the winning candidates belonging to the writ petitioner's political party apprehend that some disturbance may be created by local miscreants to prevent them from attending the meetings for Board formation on 11.08.2023 at 2.30 p.m..

The respondent authorities shall keep a sharp vigil at the venues at Kalyanpur-II and Kharjuna Gram Panchayat and deploy sufficient police personnel for the protection of the people there and ensure that no breach of peace takes place at the concerned places.

With these observations, the writ petition stands disposed of.

Since affidavits have not called for, the allegations made in the writ petition are deemed not to be admitted by the respondents.
