AGP Mr. Pannalal Bandopadhyay ...for the State The petitioners claim to be holders of stage carriage permits for the route Kalna to Burdwan and Burdwan to Kalna via Dhatrigram and Satgechia. The petitioners submit that their buses are operating on the said route pursuant to the rotational timetable dated 08.02.2012, approved by the Regional Transport Authority, Burdwan (after bifurcation of the district, now named 'Purba Burdwan'). It is their grievance that, since the approval of the said timetable, several old vehicles have been replaced with newer model vehicles.

The petitioners contend that such replacement of vehicles necessitates a revised timetable to be approved by the Regional Transport Authority, Purba Burdwan. Attention of this Court has been drawn to an

application dated 29.07.2025, filed for approval of a revised rotational timetable. The petitioners submit that the said application has not yet been considered, thereby causing them serious inconvenience in plying their vehicles.

This Court is of the view that the rotational timetable, approved in the year 2012, requires reapproval. Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction upon the Regional Transport Authority, Purba Burdwan, to consider the petitioners' prayer for approval of a revised timetable in accordance with law within a period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order.

With the above observations, the instant writ petition, being WPA 19556 of 2025, is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties upon compliance of all necessary formalities.
