Both the parties have filed a joint petition for compromise seeking settlement of the dispute which had arisen between them resulting in institution of New Market Police Station Case No.71 of dated 28th February, under Sections 467/468/471/420/511/120B of the Indian Penal Code corresponding to G.R.(S) No.281 of 2020 pending before the learned Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata. After filing of the said petition for settlement, a Co-ordinate Bench directed the learned Public Prosecutor-in-Charge to examine and obtain a report from the opposite party No.2 to ascertain as to whether the settlement was agreed by him without any undue pressure, threat or coercion. The Officer-in-Charge of the jurisdictional Police Station recorded the statement of the opposite party No.2. He made an elaborate statement, stating, inter alia, that he does not want to

proceed with the said case because the matter has been amicably settled.

In view of such circumstances, the instant petition for settlement is accepted.

On acceptance of the application for settlement, further proceeding in connection with G.R.(S) No.281 of 2020 pending before the learned Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata be quashed.
