Learned counsel for the State has raised a preliminary objection that it is a personal cause which is sought to be agitated by the petitioner in the guise of public interest petition.

Submission of learned counsel for the petitioner is that the petitioner is not claiming any relief for himself but he is seeking permission for the committee so that Durgotsab can be performed.

Having heard learned counsel for the parties and on perusal of the record, we notice that the cause of the petitioner is in respect of permission to the committee to

WPA(P) 433 of 2022 organise Durgotsab. The petitioner is the secretary of the said committee. The relief claimed in this petition is in favour of the committee. The personal cause of such a nature cannot be permitted to be agitated in a public interest petition. The petitioner has remedy of filing a petition or to take recourse to such other proceedings as permissible in law, In the aforesaid circumstances, we decline to entertain the present petition. Hence, the petitioner is permitted to avail such other remedies as are available in law.

Accordingly, the petition is dismissed.
