1. This contempt application has been filed alleging violation of the order and direction issued in WPA(P) 160 of 2023 dated 27.07.2023.

2. It is seen from the documents placed before the court by the learned Additional Government Pleader that pursuant to the directions issued in the writ petition the authority had initiated action and an order has been passed which is against the interest of the private respondents.

3. This order was put to challenge before the District Magistrate, Purba Medinipur by way of a statutory appeal.

4. In the meantime, since demolition was directed, the aggrieved parties filed a writ petition before this court in WPA 19642 of 2024 which was disposed of on 05.09.2024 directing the District Magistrate to dispose of the appeal within a time frame and there was a stay granted for a limited period with a liberty to the writ petitioner to approach the appellate authority for extension of the interim order.

5. Thus, subsequent proceedings have taken place and we find that no useful purpose would be served in keeping this contempt application pending.

6. However, we direct the District Magistrate, Purba Medinipur to comply with the directions issued in WPA 19642 of 2024 dated 05.09.2024 without further loss of time.

7. With the above observation, the contempt application stand disposed of.
