The petitioner claims to be a tenant under respondent nos. 4 and 5 and seeks a separate electricity connection.

Learned advocate appearing for the WBSEDCL submits that the connection could not be effected in favour of the petitioner owing to the absence of way-leave from the landlord.

Needless to mention, the landlord cannot deny wayleave for the purpose of effecting an electricity connection. In view of the above, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction upon the WBSEDCL to effect electricity connection in favour of the petitioner within a period of four weeks from date. WBSEDCL shall be at liberty to seek

assistance from the local police station, and the cost of such police assistance shall be borne by the petitioner. It is further clarified that the connection shall be effected subject to the petitioner's compliance with all requisite formalities, except way-leave requirement from the landlord.

Accordingly, WPA 19418 of 2025 is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the learned advocates for the parties on usual undertakings.
