Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that, with the intention of filing an appeal against the said order, the petitioner sought to deposit 50% of the assessed amount before the concerned assessing officer. Although the officer initially accepted the deposit, the amount was subsequently returned with a directive to deposit the full assessed amount.

From Annexure P/5, the petitioner's allegations appear to be substantiated.

However, without delving into such dispute, I hereby direct the assessing officer to accept the deposit of 50% of the assessed amount within seven days from the date of this order, to enable the petitioner to file a statutory appeal under Section 127 of the Electricity Act, 2003. The petitioner shall be at liberty to prefer the appeal before the appellate authority within one month from the

date.

If such appeal is filed, the appellate authority shall consider the matter in accordance with the law. The appellate authority is also authorised to consider the reconnection of the petitioner's electricity line. Accordingly, WPA 19715 of 2025 is disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
