Learned lawyer appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for 1 year and 16 days. There is no eyewitness to the incident.

Learned lawyer for the State draws attention of the Court to the postmortem report and the statement recorded under Section 161 of the victim.

The postmortem report states that the death was due to strangulation. The victim died at her matrimonial home. The petitioner is the husband of the victim.

Considering the gravity of the offence and the complicity of the petitioner, therein, we are unable to grant bail to the petitioner. The application for bail is, thus, rejected.
