Mr. N.I.Khan Mr. Madan Mohan Roy .......for the petitioner Mr. Amal Kumar Sen Ms. Ashima Das (Sil) ........for the State The prayer in the present writ petition is for a direction on the State-respondents to take expeditious steps for renewing the petitioner's permit in respect of the concerned vehicle. The permit was renewed in 2015 and was to remain valid till 12th September, 2020.

The petitioner made an application in this regard and submitted all documents before the State Transport Authority on 15th October, 2020.

Learned counsel appearing for the State hands up a document which shows that the permit was renewed on 23rd December, 2021 and the petitioner was intimated.

By reason of the above and since the petitioner's grievance has been answered, WPA 20710 of 2021 is disposed of in terms of the document dated 23rd December, 2021 which is kept on record.

The State Transport Department is, however, directed to pay costs for the delay over one year in renewing the petitioner's permit. The costs are reasonably assessed at Rs. 5000/- to be paid to Bharat Sevasram Sangha, Kolkata within a fortnight from date.

WPA 20710 of 2021 is disposed of accordingly.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties on usual undertakings.
